Champions League Preview and Betting Tips – 20th Feb 2017

Champions League Preview and Betting Tips – 20th Feb 2017

We have more Champions League action to entertain you this week as Manchester City take on Monaco, and last season’s beaten finalists Atletico Madrid head to Germany. Over at AppBet we’ve taken a look at the best bets for each game. Bayer Leverkusen v Atletico Madrid It’s déjà vu for Atletico Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League, as once again it’s German side Bayer Leverkusen who are the team standing in their way of progression to the next round of the competition. Progressing to the knockout stages by finishing top of their group, ahead of the Bayern Munich side that thrashed Arsenal 5-1 in their tie last week, it certainly seems as though their European form has been outweighing their domestic form this time round. Conceding only two goals in the Champions League so far this season, they picked up five straight victories, four of them being by one clear goal. Add to that, since the start of 2016 they have never scored more than one goal away from home in this competition, we feel a 1-0 win priced 11/2 looks a strong bet. Leverkusen may have something to say about Atletico keeping 25 clean sheets in 42 Champions League games, having scored against Spanish opposition in their last 11 home games in this competition. However, despite being unbeaten in their group, they only managed to pick up two victories, and historically with this tie ending in a draw, under 2.5 goals at 8/15 looks a strong bet. In the goalscorer market, Javier Hernandez has only scored one goal in the Champions League this season, so we’d...
FA Cup 5th Round Preview

FA Cup 5th Round Preview

Burnley v Lincoln, Saturday 12.30 Lincoln played very well against Brighton in the last round and reach the last 16 for the first time since 1902, its going to be a massive day out for their supporters and one that every fan will remember. Brighton made 8 changes in the last round but still put out a decent side. Burnley also made 8 changes last time out. When betting on this game as always with the FA cup it’s predicting the starting 11 that holds the key to finding value. Even if Burnley do make 8 changes they comfortably beat a Championship team last time out, albeit one with 6 changes. Burnley have 30 points a full 10 points above relegation and with their home form have a very real chance of at least reaching the semi-finals, however we are still pretty sure they will rest players, it’s depressing but there you go. It will be pretty tight but at home we think that still offers value on Burnley. Get the best price on Burnley at 1.35 Huddersfield v Man City, Saturday 15.00 Huddersfield are flying in the Championship and have won 5 in a row, they are now only 4 points from automatic promotion. Here in lies the problem. It is highly likely they will make sweeping changes for this one. They rested half their team in the last round but as they were playing Rochdale they still won 4 -0. City will make changes as well but in the cup their squad quality means that they will still field a team of Internationals. This should mean City get...
Europa League Preview & Betting Guide 16th Feb

Europa League Preview & Betting Guide 16th Feb

The Europa League might not have the glamour of the Champions League but we are finally getting to a stage where teams can start seriously thinking of some European silverware. High flying Premier League outfit Tottenham face a trip to Gent and really should not be troubled over the two legs. However, the only recent wins for Spurs have been scraped victories over Wycombe and Middlesbrough. It is not long ago they were the form side of the country but they are going through a tricky spell. Luckily for them Gent are not the best European team in the competition – far from it in fact. They are not exactly over performing in Belgium either and whilst they will definitely be up for this they really are not in the same class as their opponents. First legs are always awkward to predict but I am sure that Spurs will be all out for the win here and they will get it with little fuss. They are top priced with Paddy Power at 5/6 and that is terrific value. The Premier League is also represented later on in the evening as Manchester United play host to St Etienne. All French teams will surely be boosted by seeing how PSG demolished Barcelona on Tuesday night. St Etienne have had some decent results and will relish the challenge of facing one of the giants of European football. Mourinho has got a decent beat out of his side in the last couple of months and they will fancy this tie. On the betting front though it really doesn’t see the brightest idea to...

Champions League Preview and Betting Tips – 15th Feb 2017

Following last nights goal fest at the Parc des Princes, we have two more big games tonight in the 1st Leg of the Champions League Last 16. Bayern Munich v Arsenal Finishing first in their Champions’ League group, The Gunners would have expected an easier draw. Sadly for Arsene Wenger, another game against Bayern, their fourth in five seasons is not what he had planned. Arsenal have just about got their Premier League form back on track thanks to two goals by Alexis Sanchez against Hull at the weekend. They are currently priced at 11/2 to get what would be an unlikely win in Munich. The home side are sitting pretty five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, and having won their last 15 Champions League home games scoring 53 goals, it’s easy to see why they’re 8/15 favourites for the win. Stats are against The Gunners who have been knocked out in this stage for the last two seasons and have failed to win the first leg of this tie, so we expect a home win, with 3-1 currently priced 10/1. The goalscorer market looks to be the place to make money here, with Robert Lewandowski in fine form in European competition having scored 14 goals in his last 12 home appearances, and he is 5/2 to net the opener. Alexis Sanchez is the go-to man for Arsenal, and we expect him to cause a few problems for Bayern and get on the scoresheet, priced at 9/4 he is good value to score anytime in the game. Real Madrid v Napoli La Liga form shows Real Madrid...

Champions League Preview and Betting Tips – 14th Feb 2017

The Champions League is back after a two-month absence from our television screens and at AppBet we’re settling down for a Valentine’s Day with two top-class matches. PSG v Barcelona Paris St. Germain are certainly in unfamiliar territory this season after the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimović. Knocked off top spot in Ligue 1 by Monaco, it’s no surprise they go into this game as 12/5 underdogs. However, it isn’t all bad for coach Unai Emery. Unbeaten in 2017 with nine victories and one draw, Les Parisiens have found the back of the net on 29 occasions, conceding only four. Against a Barcelona side, it seems offence will be the best form of defence, and with both teams currently in free-scoring mode, over 3.5 goals at 15/8 is a strong bet. Entertainment is the order of the day when it comes to Luis Enrique and Barcelona. Putting six goals past Deportivo Alaves on Saturday, with Messi, Neymar and Suarez all grabbing a slice of the action, they come into this game as 6/5 favourites. Their domestic record speaks volumes, with eight victories in their last ten and two draws, all while scoring 31 goals and conceding only 6…you would be hard pressed to bet against them. The man of the moment for Barca is Luiz Suarez and despite a red card in the Copa Del Rey last week. Finding the back of the net on ten occasions in his last ten games for the club and scoring first in five of those games, the price of 4/1 for him to open the scoring in the Parc Des Princes looks to...
