Cheltenham Day Four Preview: Elliott to Reign Supreme at Cheltenham

Cheltenham Day Four Preview: Elliott to Reign Supreme at Cheltenham

Noel Fehily is the man of the moment at Cheltenham having already picked two big race crowns at the Festival this week, and we certainly expect to be adding more winners to that tally before today is out.  It’s the main event at Cheltenham today, The Gold Cup (take a look at our exclusive preview), and, so to help you get some money in your pockets for that race, we’ve picked out our best bets on the rest of the card.

JCB Triumph Hurdle

Richard Johnson-trained Defi Su Seuil is the market leader for the opener on the final day of the Festival, and it’s clear to see why as he comes into this race on a five-race unbeaten run.  Three of those victories have come on this course, and his most recent is a Triumph Hurdle trial at the end of January.  Winning by nine lengths on that occasion, it would seem his rivals will have to do something special to stop him adding another victory here.

County Hurdle

Gordon Elliott looks to have taken the flame of Irish trainer to get behind from Willie Mullins this season, and with young Jack Kennedy in the saddle, he seems unstoppable.  Mick Jazz comes into this race in good form and has featured strongly so far in Ireland this season. Picking up a hard-fought victory ahead of Cilaos Emery, his trainer will be expecting another win here.

The each-way market in this race is also very strong, and the horse that catches the eye is Harry Fry-trained Air Force One. Heading to Cheltenham with a hat-trick of wins behind him, it’s that man Noel Fehily who has been given the ride. With current odds of 14/1, we advised you get on him quick to avoid disappointment.

Albert Bartlett Hurdle

The Festival gives us one more exciting race before the main event and this season’s Albert Bartlett looks a cracking renewal. The horse that has caught our eye in the betting is 9/1 shot The Worlds End, who has been in very strong form for trainer Tom George so far this season.  With three wins from his last three, he could certainly give Death Duty a run for his money here and deny Gordon Elliott an easy win.
